Dumplin Valley Farm is home to the yearly Dumplin Valley Bluegrass Festival. The dates for the event to be held in 2017 are September 14, 15, & 16. Reservations are essential in order to reserve your campsite because they sell out in advance. The official site shows that the seats for this year have been booked and they are adding names to a waitlist now. For all those who are interested in attending the annual event can make a call to book their campsite. You can get a room for dry camping in case you are interested in it.
May 19 and 20 are the dates for their yearly picking weekend when a number of their country jammers/pickers come for a casual outing of music. Companions will get together and pick throughout the day and half the night, if interested you can make a reservation now also.
Camperfest Reunion 2017
The dates for this event was May 6 and 7. This event is known as one of the East Tennessee’s unique Americana Music Festival, the event takes place at Dumplin Valley Farm in Kodak.
Camperfest is named out of appreciation for the first WDVX Broadcast Camper Studio in Norris, where the first Camperfest music celebration was held from 1998-2001.
Tickets for the event were made available from Friday, March 17 for the general public via wdvx.com and through www.brownpapertickets.com. Moreover, a special Camperfest Reunion VIP premium package was offered for the WDVX listeners to avail premium seating opportunities.
It was like a huge party which brings the listeners, locals and national artist from the nearby as well as far regions together for a weekend of great music and fellowship at Dumplin Valley. The show had headliners Darrell Scott and Scott Miller and the Commonwealth as the two main events. Other artists were Jill Andrews, Robinella, Jay Clark and the TN Tree Beavers, Four Leaf Peat, Alex Leach, Bredon James Wright and the Wrongs, The Barstool Romeos, Eli Fox, Guy Marshall, the Clinch Mountain Boya and much more. On 5th May, the event timings were 4 pm to 11 pm and on 6th May the timings were 1 pm to 11 pm. People enjoyed the music along with the camping sites to have a different getaway from their daily routine lives.
The organizer also promised that the original WDVX Camper will be onsite at the Dumplin Valley Farm, in a similar area where Camperfest occurred from 2002-2007. Furthermore, guests will have the capacity to take an independently directed voyage through the notable camper studio.
The WDVX Music Vault
Along with the other events planned for the whole year, including a special November event which is still in the planning stages, new programming sections winnowed from the station’s archives are still used to the station’s lineup. Tony Lawson was the producer and Katie Cauthen was the director of the program, the elements are as of now airing daily, with 20-to 30-minute portions named “Toss Back Thursday’s” airing once every week, and shorter 3 to 7 minute-show featured throughout the week.
The WDVX is known for its rich unique live performances based on the history of the region. They will take you back in the time with their special performance and interviews which you only hear on WDVX. The series will include several segments from The Avett Brothers, Nickel Crek, Del McCoury, Marty Stuart, Lake Street Dive, Bela Fleck, Broken Bones, St Paul and many other local as well as regional acts.
WDVX turns 20
The main reason behind celebrating this event is, at the same date, 20 years ago, East Tennessee’s popular public radio station first came into existence. It was originally founded by Tony Lawson, engineer Don Burggraf and some other like-minded volunteers, which is now grown into world’s famous and one of the nation’s foremost Americana outlets. Their main aim is to provide and create content to promote the cultural heritage of East Tennessee and the Southern Appalachian region by educating and entertaining the audiences across the world with live and original radio performances. Every year, WDVX celebrates its anniversary by having a series of special high profile events. It’s like heaven for those who love music and look forward to attending such kind of events.
